One of our joys in the Tyburn Community is our awareness of people in London dropping in at all hours to adore our Lord in the blessed sacrament exposed on the throne in our church. It is so easy for them and satisfying for us that our facilities are used in this way. But for too long we have overlooked the needs of the disabled.

At the end of 2002 we were informed that the ‘Disability Act’ would come into effect in 2004. This act requires all public buildings to provide wheelchair access and other adaptations for the disabled. Our architect drew up plans for the redevelopment of the entrance to our church which will include a lift to take pilgrims down to the crypt. To our surprise and great joy the local planning authorities granted the planning permission almost immediately. So now we beg your good prayers for our fundraising efforts, a very large sum of £400,000.00 is needed because there is a large open area in front of our crypt and church which needs to be covered over to accommodate the ramps, etc.

Already we have received marvellous help from our friends. The directors of PAX Travel have kindly donated a ‘Weekend for two in Paris’ (scheduled flights included) which will be the first prize in the Grand Draw. The Catholic Stage Guild are planning to perform a play in the crypt in the autumn. Our sisters are busy making cards, candles, soap, herbal products (from our garden), icons, knitting, etc., all for this good cause we invite you to come and see and possibly buy some of these products at the Tyburn Fayre on Saturday 30 October from 10.30 am-3.00pm. Items for the Fayre are gratefully received throughout the year.

We thank you for your support.
