On 3 May, the First Vespers of the Solemnity of the Tyburn Martyrs, we were at last able to move back into our church. Much repair work had been done in it following the extensive damage to windows, roof and floor from the violent hail storm experienced by Sydney earlier in the year. Sadly, in that storm, many of our new stained glass windows were smashed. But our good friend Vince has worked hard to craft more stained glass to replace them and gradually the church is regaining its former beauty.
On the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart our Bishop Kevin Manning celebrated Mass for us assisted by Rev.Fr. John, our chaplain. The Bishop gave an excellent homily on the Sacred Heart of Jesus, focusing on Eucharistic Adoration as being fundamental to this devotion. To this end, Bishop Manning has begun daily Eucharistic Adoration an hour before each of the two Masses in the Cathedral. He hopes to extend this and asked for our prayers for this intention and also for vocations and his work on inter-religious dialogue.
After we sent out our regular June Newsletter we worked hard to make up a thousand Booklets of the 4th Annual Tyburn Lecture, this year delivered by the Catholic author and commentator Mr George Weigel, at our Mother House, Tyburn Convent in London. The Lecture entitled The Free and Virtuous Society concentrated on Catholic Social Doctrine and was very well received. We have had very many requests for copies.
We are constantly receiving gifts of books for which we are very grateful. If we already have them in our own monastic library we send them on to our new Foundations who are struggling to build up the arsenal of the monastery as our Mother Foundress described our libraries.
Our special mission of prayer is for Australia, Papua New Guinea and South East Asia, so it is a joy for us to have a priest from Papua New Guinea staying with us for over six weeks: Rev.Fr. Caspar Towaninara M.S.C., who is studying in Sydney at present.

At a little past 10am on 17 July began a truly glorious celebration: The Monastic Profession of Mother M.Hildegarde. Family and many, many friends had come to join us, and six priests concelebrated with Rev.Fr.Christopher Sharah F.S.F., so the singing of the Litany of the Saints was very strong and joyful. Sister pronounced her Vows with great conviction and then sang her Suscipe beautifully, and looked radiantly happy as she received her ring and white cowl.
