Pilgrims and tourists from all over the world visit the Shrine of the Martyrs at Tyburn. Catholic priests may arrange to celebrate Mass at the altar of the Martyrs. A sister is available for guided tours of the shrine daily at 10.30am, 3.30pm and 5.30pm. Groups should make a prior appointment.

In the Martyrs' Shrine at Tyburn Convent we honour more than 350 Catholic Martyrs who witnessed to their faith by dying for it during the Reformation.

The word 'Martyr' is of Greek derivation and originally meant "witness'. It soon came to be applied to those who witnessed to their faith in JesusChrist
by laying down their lives for him.
